Add or Remove Additional Instructors or TAs

Torus does not have a TA role. TAs will be added as instructors.

LMS-integrated sections

Add access

  • Add the co-instructor or TA to the course roster in your LMS.

  • Torus uses the person’s LMS role to determine their access. They should come into Torus as an Instructor.

  • After they click through from the LMS to Torus, if they do not appear as Instructor in Torus, email oli-help@cmu.edu for assistance.

  • To remove access, remove the user from the LMS section roster.


Website-delivery sections

Add access

  1. In your section, go to Overview, Students.

  2. Click Add Enrollment.

  3. Enter the email address(es) for the additional instructor(s).

  4. In the role drop-down, change Student to Instructor.

  5. Click Next. Follow the prompts to confirm sending an invitation.

What the new instructor should do

  1. Check their email for the Instructor invitation and follow the prompts. The new course section will appear on their instructor workspace once the invitation is accepted.

  2. Sign back in at proton.oli.cmu.edu to access the materials once enrolled.

Remove access

  1. Go to OverviewStudents.

  2. Change the Enrolled drop-down to Non-Students.

  3. Click the instructor’s name.

  4. From the Actions tab, change the role from Instructor to Student, then click Unenroll.
