D2L Brightspace: Integrate Torus with Brightspace, and add a link to your Brightspace class

Moodle: Integrate Torus with Moodle, and add a link to your Moodle class

This set of instructions is meant for BOTH the Moodle admin and the instructor, to add OLI Torus links to a Moodle class.
Steps 1 and 2 are for the Moodle admin to add and register Torus as an LTI external tool.
Step 3 is for the instructor (or the admin) to add a Torus link to a Moodle class, so Torus content can be delivered to students.

NOTE: if you integrate OLI Torus in your test environment, you will need to follow these directions again to integrate in your production environment.

STEP 1: Configure OLI Torus as an LTI Advantage (LTI v1.3) external tool

  1. As an admin user, go to "Site administration > Plugins > Activity Modules > External Tool" and add a new LTI Advantage tool.
  2. Enter the Tool URL: https://proton.oli.cmu.edu/lti/launch
  3. Provide the following values:
  1. Tool name: OLI - Torus
  2. Tool URL: https://proton.oli.cmu.edu/lti/launch

  8. Tool configuration usage: Show as preconfigured tool when adding an external tool

    2. IMS LTI Names and Role Provisioning: use this service
  11. Privacy:

    2. Share launcher's email with tool: Always
    3. Accept grades from the tool: Always

STEP 2: Add OLI - Torus link to a class to Register Moodle with OLI

The first time you launch Torus from a newly integrated LMS, you must register your institution.
Note: If you do not complete this step, the first person who launches Torus (such as instructor) will be shown the Registration screen. We recommend you do this in advance of your instructors needing to connect to Torus, because an OLI Admin must take the step of accepting your registration, which may take up to 24 hours. If you have not received approval in 24 hours, or need it more quickly, content OLI Support.
    1. In a class, click "Add an activity or resource > External tool"
    2. Enter a name, such as OLI - Torus
    3. Preconfigured tool > select OLI - Torus from list, click "Save and Display"
    4. Click "open in a new window" to reveal the following Registration form interface

    5. Fill in your institution name (full name please), your institution's URL, and the email address of your Moodle admin (or an email the Moodle team can access; this email is not published, it's just for OLI in case of emergencies).
    6. Select Moodle in the last field, and review the URLs that are prepopulated. Leave "Line items service domain" empty, and click Register.
    7. OLI will review and approve your Registration request.

STEP 3: Add OLI Torus to a Moodle class

    1. Next time any OLI - Torus link is launched, it will result in the Create Course tool.
