Create Course Sections from Authoring Projects for Website Delivery: Link Instructor Account to Authoring Account

When creating a new section from your instructor account, if you do not see the project you are looking for, either link your instructor account to your authoring account or contact the project collaborators to gain access to create course sections. Even if you have an authoring account, an instructor account is required. These two accounts can have the same credentials.

When signed in to your account, if you do not see the + Create New Section button in the upper left of your Instructor Dashboard, then request instructor access be added to your instructor account by emailing oli-help@cmu.edu. See more details on creating an instructor account for direct delivery (not linked through an LMS).

LMS integration? A section created from the OLI Torus website will never link up to an integrated LMS. For example, if you want to integrate your Canvas shell with your OLI Torus section, the section must be created from your LMS after the integration is in place.

Link Instructor Account to Authoring Account

1. Sign-in to your Instructor account or create a new account at proton.oli.cmu.edu

The active + Create New Section button in the top left indicates this is an Instructor account. If the button is there but cannot be clicked, then this is not an instructor account. Email oli-help@cmu.edu to request instructor access.

2. Click your Profile Icon in the top right then Link Authoring Account

3. Follow the prompts to sign in to your Authoring account

Now, your Instructor account can create sections from anything your Author account publishes. See this article to create your new course section.

If you still don't see your project(s) listed in the curriculum options, make sure your project is published in authoring from the Publish menu.
