- How to add a scored assessment to your project.
The Function of Scored Assessments
OLI Torus has two page types: scored and practice. These page types have the same authoring interface, but serve different purposes in terms of grading. Scored assessments are scored. Any activities built on these pages will be scored to populate the course instructor's gradebook. In OLI, these are known as summative assessments, and typically fulfill the functions of tests, quizzes, and other assessments which grade student knowledge and understanding.
Scored assessment pages typically host a collection of activities, rather than instructional content. Text, images, and more may be hosted on a scored assessment page as a supplement to the scored activities, as opposed to being learning materials.
Adding a Scored Assessment
Scored assessments can be added in any part of the curriculum view. Any container can nest a practice page (see
Create Project Containers for more information). To add a scored assessment to your project:
- Log into OLI Torus's authoring platform and navigate to the project of your choice.
- Hover over the "Create" tab and select "Curriculum".
- Find the "Create" menu below existing containers. Note: If Curriculum is blank, the menu will still be there.
- If wanting to create a scored assessment within a container, navigate within existing containers to get to the appropriate container.
- Select "Basic: Practice Page" from the Create menu.
- A new practice page will appear in the curriculum where you're located, depending on which container you're in.

A new scored assessment will appear on the Curriculum view. If containers or other pages were already on the view, then the new scored assessment will spawn beneath the existing material.
