Set up a Course Section for Student Enrollment

Set up a Course Section for Student Enrollment

There are two options for student enrollment, either via integration with your LMS or via direct delivery at proton.oli.cmu.edu.

LMS Integration

This option provides single-sign-on for you and your students so there is not a separate OLI Torus account and portal. A main advantage is the integrated-gradebook between your LMS and Torus.

Delivering OLI Torus courses via LMS-integration requires:
1. Integration between OLI Torus and your LMS
2. Access to the Course Project to set up a new course section from the integration link
Note: First set up the link from your LMS to OLI Torus, then click Start to set up the new course section. Do not set up the course section first.

See the articles on integrating with Moodle, Canvas, D2L, and Blackboard.

Direct Delivery

If LMS integration is not an option, set up a course section in OLI Torus and invite students to enroll and set up an OLI Torus student account.
Once the course section is set up in OLI Torus, use your course section's invitation link to invite your students to enroll and sign in directly at proton.oli.cmu.edu.

Delivering via direct delivery requires:
1. OLI Torus Instructor Account
2. Access to the Course Project to set up a new course section or contact your collaborator for access
3. Providing a course invitation link to students for enrollment and account creation

See the articles on creating an instructor account for direct delivery and creating a direct delivery course. For your students, see the article Enroll in OLI Torus Course and Access Course After Enrollment.
