My OLI Torus Course Materials
How can I view the course pages?
Click Course Content on the left from the course landing page, then one of the top-level headings to open the list of content. Click the headings until the list of pages appears. Each of these pages are clickable so you can navigate to the page or assignment. Use the Next button in the bottom right to navigate from page to page.
Click Assignments on the left from the course landing page to open a list of all the Assignments in the course with due dates. Please check with your instructor for the requirements for your course.
Please make sure to be signed in to a fresh OLI Torus window when working on a quiz. If the quiz is open for some time and the sign-in times out or the Internet connection is interrupted, the quiz may not save answers. For the scoring and grade considerations for your course, please discuss the issue with your instructor.
What do I do if my answers are not saved and I'm signed out automatically?
If your answers do not get saved and you are signed out by clicking next, your sign-in to your school's system or OLI Torus may have timed out and you need to sign in again.
How do I navigate back to where I worked most recently?
While this functionality will be expanded in the future to make it easier to get back to where you last worked in the course, for now please use the menu on the left to quickly link to course content or assignments.
Click Course Content to open a list of the course content - clicking the hierarchical headings opens a list of the content in that section. For example clicking the left most heading opens a list of Units, clicking the next heading opens a list of content in that Module. Please note that some courses use heading different from Units and Modules.
If you are clicking through pages that you worked on before, any answers you entered into the activities will appear to show you that you have worked on that page before.
My Exploration is stuck or not operating as expected. What should I do?
The exploration activities can become stuck. If the Exploration will not proceed as expected, please restart the activity:
To restart the exploration, click the “History” button on the bottom panel of the exploration, then click “Restart Lesson” to start again.
Tips:
Do not use the back navigation button.
Do not refresh the page while in the exploration.
If possible, try to complete the lesson in one sitting (not required, but recommended).
Chrome is the recommended browser.
If the technical issue persists or you have any questions, please email by clicking Tech Support or email
oli-help@cmu.edu directly with an image of your page so we can troubleshoot more specifically.
If this issue is impacting your progress or scores in the course materials, please let your instructor know.
My progress is less than 100%, but I think I finished the course. How is the progress calculated?
Progress calculates based on submitting all the assignments, visiting all the pages, and completing all the activities on the pages. If the progress percent is still not close to 100%, please email your instructor to see if there is anything else you need to do. If the progress percent does not seem right, please email
oli-help@cmu.edu for assistance.
