Frequently Asked Questions for OLI Torus Students - Using Course Materials

How can I view the course pages?

Click Learn on the left from the course landing page, then any block/image to open the page or the list of pages in a module. Click the desired page as needed. From a page, click the blue arrows at the bottom of the page to go from page to page.
See Overview of the Student Home View for more details.

How can I find my quizzes (scored pages)?

Click Assignments on the left from the course landing page to open a list of all the Assignments. Please check with your instructor for the requirements for your course.

How do I navigate back to where I worked most recently?

When you next access your course materials, choose Resume Practice from the blue bar at the top of the page to resume where you last left off.

How can I tell what I have worked on and what is left?

From the Learn view, each Unit shows a bar that fills up with green as the percent progress approaches 100%. The progress percent for that Unit is also listed.
Within each Unit, each block/image has a green bar at the bottom that fills up as you work through the Module. Clicking any block/image shows a list of pages in the module with green checkmarks next to the completed pages.

My Exploration is stuck or not operating as expected. What should I do?
The exploration activities can become stuck. If the Exploration will not proceed as expected, please restart the activity:
To restart the exploration, click the History button on the bottom panel of the exploration, then click Restart Lesson to start again.

Tips:
Do not use the back navigation button.
Do not refresh the page while in the exploration.
If possible, try to complete the lesson in one sitting (not required, but recommended).
Chrome is the recommended browser.

If the technical issue persists or you have any questions, please email by clicking Support or email oli-help@cmu.edu directly with an image of your page so we can troubleshoot more specifically.

If this issue is impacting your progress or scores in the course materials, please let your instructor know.

My progress is less than 100%, but I think I finished the course. How is the progress calculated?

Progress calculates based on submitting all the assignments, visiting all the pages, and completing all the activities on the pages. If the progress percent is still not close to 100%, please email your instructor to see if there is anything else you need to do. If the progress percent does not seem right, please email oli-help@cmu.edu for assistance.

I have a content question or a question about my scores for my course.
